Arkansas

If you have been laid off from your job in Arkansas, you may be able to receive Arkansas unemployment benefits. The amount of money you are eligible for will depend on earnings history during the Arkansas base period.

In order to qualify for Arkansas unemployment benefits you must be:
1. Involuntarily unemployed
2. Mentally and physically able to work
3. Available for work
4. Actively searching for work
5. Not involved in a labor dispute <

The initial application for unemployment in Arkansas must be filed in person, at a local Arkansas Department of Workforce Services Office, or by mail on an official unemployment insurance application form. Arkansas does have an internet claim process under development, but as of July 9, 2009, it was not yet operational.
Although you are required to be available for work in order to collect benefits, there are some exceptions if you are enrolled in certain approved full-time training programs. Check with your local local Arkansas Department of Workforce Services Office if you believe you may qualify for a work search exemption.
