If you held a job in the state of Colorado and now find yourself out of work, you may be able to receive unemployment compensation from the state. The amount of money you can get will depend on your past earnings history.
To be eligible, you must:
1. Have been let go from your job (through no fault of your own)
2. Be able to work
3. Be willing to look for work
Here’s how to apply:
• Go to www.coworkforce.com
• Click on Unemployment Online Services on the left side of the page
• Click File for Unemployment
• Read the overview
• Click File a Claim
• Follow all instructions
Once you are done with the online application, you must wait for your claim to be processed. This can take up to two weeks, at which point you will receive a check in the mail. If you do not qualify, you will be sent a letter explaining why you are ineligible. If your claim takes over two weeks, or you believe that you have wrongly been denied unemployment, call 1-800-388-5515 to speak with a representative.
